[Reminder] Licensing Of Nutrition Shops, Diet And Weight Control Centers

To : All Nutrition and Supplement Shops, Diet and Weight Control Centers - Dubai


As part of Health Regulation Sector-DHA ongoing commitment to develop and improve standards of healthcare services provided in Dubai with the emphasis of offering a comprehensive services within the best practices in parallel with the international standards while ensuring the highest degree of patients’ health and safety. Health Regulation Sector thus undertakes to regulate the practice of the above mentioned centers and professionals working in them.

 

The regulation relies on the type of the center's practice and activity taking into consideration the highest standards of health and safety for customers. 

Therefore, attention should be drawn to the following rules:

 

1. Nutrition   and Supplement Shops (Not offering diet counseling and weight control Services: -)

§ DHA License for both the center and working professionalsis not obligatory.

§  The activity is restricted only for saleand trade of supplements without providing  diet counseling and weight control services

§ Noncompliance to the scope of practice will result in taking the proper punitive actions by DHA , including financial fines

 







 

2. Dietary and weight Management centers: -

§  DHA license for both the facility and the working professionals (Nutritionist / Clinical dietician)  is mandatory

§ The activity is to offer services of weight control counseling and dietary programs

Hereby, it is required by all aforementioned centers to adhere to the above stated instructions and update its status based on the activity carried out.

A grace period of six(6) months will be granted for all centers with a hybrid activity (dietary counseling and sale of supplements) to adjust their license status and determine their activity accordingly.

 

Implementation of the above is effective from the date of issuance this circular.
